              After
millennia of female subjugation, women at last have the chance to
visualize themselves in totally new ways, making it possible for
them to reclaim their inherent birthright. Kimberly Berg believes
that the artist can play an important role in helping women of the
Third Millennium realize their full potential as a vital,
life-enhancing force in the world. The artist has the unique
ability to create images that can inspire, empower, uplift and
motivate viewers to realize their intrinsic worth as human beings
and as leaders and workers capable of changing the direction of
the patriarchal world we live in.
              Kimberly
likes to work with pastels in a minimalist, lyrical style to
create intimate, figurative studies that the viewer can relate to
on a personal level. He tries to create a space where viewers have
the luxury of reinventing themselves in an imaginative way. Berg
is especially interested in reaching out to women who have been
caught in a web work of patriarchal restrictions. He believes the
seeds for transformation are planted when the artist creates
images that enable women to see those parts of themselves that
have been systematically censored for thousands of years.
              Recently,
Kimberly has been creating monotone images in the goddess series
that show a transparent figure of the goddess standing behind a
woman who is struggling to realize herself. He has found that
pastels lend themselves very well towards creating a transparent
              effect.
              Berg
is convinced that it is the artist as shaman, trickster and
prophet who has the power to create images that reveal the
possibilities of what humanity can be.

              Berg
has shown his work nationally and internationally. He has had work
accepted and received awards in numerous competitions. |
