WoA Publishing is a unique artist run art
publishing. Due to troubling times and crisis within the mass book
distribution channels which have made difficult for the art publisher
to maintain profitability the WoA Publishing is implementing a
completely different approach.
The primary marketing and sales venue for the WoA Publishing is the
Internet. Integrated within the WoA online network linked closely to
the Amazone.com and Barnesandoble.com our art books are marketed and
sold through eCommerce distribution channels then are made available
for ordering to the traditional US bookstores chains and e-Commerce
channels including Powell’s, Alibis, Books-A-Million, Buy.com, Ecampus,
Textbook, Blackwell, Barnes and Noble, Amazon, Borders and many
others.
Finally, we intend to encourage and support our published artists at
conventions with local retailers and own distribution. That would
increase our published artist’s margin and reduce risks for stock.

Basic publishing Business
1) If you pay to get the book published by our net price book agreement
(you buy your own book) you also have the right to sale the book direct,
and fix a price with a bookshop, and to fix the price on a firm sale basis
not sale or return. You have to phone bookshops chains and to consider
Amazon's expanded distribution channel systems which look attractive.
That would increase your margin but also reduce your risk for stock -
after all, what use is a box of books in a store-room for several months?
If a limited edition art book selling price to bookstore or eCommerce is
about US $299 and the wholesale traditional takes 55% off the retail
price, the price is $134.55. If you bore the publishing & printing cost
which is about US$18 per book, you will made $115.55 per book.
So, the artist will made $115.55 per each book sold.
2) To enter the market and made sales through the publisher's own
distributors and sub-distributors the publisher return it can be as much
as 50%~90% per each book sold.
- If you pay a fraction to get the book published the reward (royalty) is
determined depending on the retail price, the distribution cost, the
artist contribution and the publishing investment.
If the book sells for US $299 and the wholesale traditional takes 55% off
the retail price, the price is $134.55; the distributor traditional takes
40% of $134.55, that would be $53.82 and the artist/publisher earning of
60% gets $80.73 for each book sold. The publisher takes 50% off the $80.73
from distribution that would be $40.36 and the artist. The artist reward
would be $40.36 for each book sold.
So instead of $115.55 per book, the artist will made $40.36 per each book
sold.
- If you don’t pay to get the book published the Royalty is determined
depending on the retail price, the distribution cost and the publishing
investment.
If the book sells for US $299 and the wholesale traditional takes 55% off
the retail price, the price is $134.55; the distributor traditional takes
40% of $134.55, that would be $53.82 and the artist/publisher earning of
60% gets $80.73 for each book sold.
To make sure costs are covered the publisher earning it can be as much as
70%~90%. If the publisher takes 70% off the $80.73 from distribution that
would be $56.51 and the artist royalty would be 30% off the $80.73 that
would be $24.21 for each book sold.
Instead of $115.55 per book, the artist will earn $24.21 in royalties per
book sold.
