They're done with high contrast so that it reflects the
emotional and physical impact of the situation involved.
Various painted canvas strips have been adhered onto the
surface creating additional layers of involvement as well
as disruption … which is another element of the danger
and the concept within the image. The size is important as
it results in a stronger impact, the height making one feel
overwhelmed by the incident as it is happening.
The emotional significance of the event is revealed while
still retaining a certain amount of vagueness, therefore
allowing the viewer to have individual interpretations of
the piece. The viewer associates with the work however
they wish while still feeling the impact!
My art is a direct response to my environment, the
decisions that we make, and how that affects our planet.
As a participant in activities related to preserving the
environment, I don't intend to be a passive voice. I tend to
be more of a storyteller.
The artwork reveals impressions of major incidents that
affect our environment. Many are 90 inches tall by 38
inches wide. Thereby a series of seven of those units
results in approximately 21 feet across, ideal for corporate
installations.
