                               LIS ENGEL

The Works of the contemporary artist Lis Engel are real poetic
whispers. Works which are characterized by the chromatic
refinement and a great power of sign. Works that tell the
feelings of deep experience in a way I would describe as
sublime. The refined texture and the sensitive language make
such works real masterpieces intended to remain in time
(Salvatore Russo, Art Historian and Art Critic).

I believe that art is about expressing and communicating
lived experiences of significance. I am especially interested in
experiences of nature and relations with sound and space.
For me it is about honouring all kinds of life in nature.

My favorite medium is acrylics and oil and I work both in
abstract and magic expressionism. I am educated as a dancer
and has worked as a researcher in aesthetic communication
at the University of Copenhagen, now working as a full time
                                                              contemporary artist/painter.
My Grandmother was always one of my greatest inspiration. She
learned me to love and honour all forms of life and to spend lots of
                                                              time in nature.
