ANTONELLA QUACCHIA

After having explored many figurative subjects, Antonella Quacchia,
artist of Italian origins but de facto citizen of the world, approaches
Abstract Expressionism to satisfy her need to manifest on the canvas,
in a spontaneous manner and without executive rules other than her
own, all the cultural and emotional baggage that she has accumulated
during her life through the encounter with many different people and
places. Her point of observation of reality is inclusive; the wisdom
acquired by observing the diversity of ways in which everyone can live
everyday life, is expressed in her artwork through contrast of light and
shadow, in alternation between earthy and dusty tones and patches
of light rendered with white, as to invite the observer into letting
memories and emotions freely flow. The attitude toward the Color
Field emerges strongly in her artworks that appear like landscapes
of fields, of endless plains where in the lower half the earthy tones
represent the practical, rational, concrete sense of living, while in
the upper half she lets the sharp, barely shaded but fundamentally
intense chromatic hue prevail, as to symbolize memories and feelings
that constitute everyone’s essence. Since 2017, Antonella Quacchia
has participated in many int'l group exhibitions and solo shows. Her
artworks are currently included in renowned art publications and are
part of collections in Austria, France, Italy, Switzerland, and Germany.
