LIDY DE BROUWER
Lives and works in Lievegem, Belgium

Examples of works like this are landscapes and nature,
but also when Lidy depicts dreams, desires for peace
and equality, the human figure and when she depicts her
impression of foreign cultures that she encountered during
her numerous travels. Other times, Lidy opts for a softer
color palette, often using soft pastel that represents the
other side of her personality. At times quite extrovert in
person, we find inner peace in these works, a contemplation
on the fragility of life, the beauty of man and nature
depicted in a female figure or an expanding landscape.
These soft works of art make the spectator grow quiet
and allow him to slip away, if only for a moment, from the
hard reality that so often surrounds us. In her visual arts
Lidy often opts to use the duality of black and white which
leads to some impressive pieces of art. Her paintings and
visual arts are indiscernible from her poetry, as she also
uses her emotions, experiences and impressions to write
poetry, just like with her other works. They are personal
outbursts of emotions transferred to anyone open to beauty
and feeling. She received her training for lecture and at the
music academy and studied art history at the University of
Ghent. Her latest works of poetry are “Een lint van kleuren”,
“Sjansen”, and “Estafette”. (Luc Lekens, Art critic)
