MOTHER
MoMA PS1 presents Sohrab Hura: Mother, the first US
survey exhibition of artist Sohrab Hura (Indian, b. 1981),
showcasing more than fifty works spanning two decades of
his experimental practice. Bringing together photography,
film, sound, drawing, painting, and text, many of which
have never been exhibited together before, this exhibition

highlights Hura’s distinctive approach to storytelling

through multiple media. Initially trained in documentary
photography, Hura soon embraced a more essayistic and Hura’s work has been widely exhibited, with solo and group
experimental style, using layered narratives to explore the presentations at institutions such as Huis Marseille Museum

MoMA, Ishara Art Foundation, and the Cincinnati Art Museum.
Curated by Ruba Katrib, Curator and Director of Curatorial
Affairs, with Sheldon Gooch, Curatorial Assistant, this
exhibition offers a deep dive into Hura’s evolving artistic
journey, demonstrating his ability to intertwine personal and
collective histories through diverse creative forms.
