HANNA RHEINZ
Lives and works in Osten, Germany

I explore emotions and inner images by capturing them in the
motifs of my paintings. One of my goals is to facilitate a transfer
between what can be seen and what can only be perceived by
the inner eye’s works of imagination.
I was what I am, and I am what I will be. My life is a work in
progress, advancing (or not) despite the splits and discrepancies
inside and outside this vessel called “me.” I move forward
despite all that is and never will be, seizing the moment - the
only moment that counts - aspiring never to end.
I was born in Cologne, Germany, and was what is now called
a “nerd.” At age 13, I was a regular visitor to the Museum der
Ostasiatischen Kunst, where I learned languages and art history.
I attended Gymnasium in Frankfurt/Main with an art major
and was influenced by the “Frankfurt School” of Philosophy,
particularly Theodor W. Adorno, French Symbolism, Dada, and the
Vienna School of Fantastic Art. At university (Frankfurt, Tokyo,
Munich, Salzburg), I studied Philosophy, Japanology, Sinology
(M.A.), and Psychology (Diploma and Dr.phil.). I wrote books
and essays and worked as a freelance author, journalist, and
director of a Jewish Museum. As a Fine Artist (Oil Painting and
experimental photography), I have participated in numerous
exhibitions worldwide. I currently live and work with my dog, two
dear cats, a beloved mare over 30 years old - and a very tricky
donkey - in the Hamburg area.
